lloyd Glasson

 

   ...is best known to the Hartford, CT community for his re-creation of the two angels that adorn the top of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch in Bushnell Park.


        Other local commissions include an 8-foot bas relief of St. Helena at the Church of St. Helena in West Hartford and a 6-foot bronze nurse inside the main entrance of Hartford Hospital.


        He has executed many public portrait commissions for such institutions as the Karen Horney Clinic in New York City, the UConn Health Center, Yale University, and the Wadsworth Atheneum.


        Glasson has won many prizes for his sculpture, including two gold medals, one in 1986 from the National Academy of Design and another from the National Sculpture Society in 1985.


        He is Professor Emeritus of sculpture and drawing at the Hartford Art School of the University of Hartford.
